METROPOLITAN THEATRES LAUNCHES THE HITCHCOCK CINEMA & PUBLIC HOUSE

Beginning Friday, June 30, a Hitchcock Happy Hour Commences for Weekdays

SANTA BARBARA, CA June 30, 2017 – Metropolitan Theatres (MTC) announces completion of renovation plans for the formerly named Plaza De Oro Theatre at 371 South Hitchcock Way, Santa Barbara. The theatre has been renamed The Hitchcock Cinema & Public House (The Hitchcock), and now offers a bar in the theme of an English pub with an expanded food and beverage menu featuring craft beer and wine. Additionally, the theatre’s lobby and common areas received new flooring, wall coverings, and lighting.

Historically specialty film product has been showcased at Plaza De Oro. However, with the name change and bar introduction, MTC will program a variety of films to grow The Hitchcock’s film footprint to incorporate a broader audience base. David Corwin, President of Metropolitan stated, “We are excited about the theatre upgrades and addition of more expansive food and beverage offerings that we hope the community will embrace in a new environment at The Hitchcock.  We felt it was an appropriate time to rebrand the theatre to reflect the street on which it has resided for 40 years.”  Additional amenities will be taken under advisement such as reserved seating, recliners and further improvements to the interior.

The expanded food menu includes appetizers such as spinach artichoke dip, mac ‘n cheese bites, onion rings, and French fries. Entrees feature options such as fish and chips, hamburger sliders, hot dog sliders, pizza, and chicken tenders, with additional items to be introduced at later dates. Rounding things out, the menu presents chocolate molten cake and freshly baked chocolate chunk cookies. Given the wealth of local wineries and craft beer, the pub will initially offer a selection of five wines, eleven beers, including draft and craft beer selections, and two ciders as part of its beverage expansion. And in honor of The Hitchcock launch, a special Hitchcock Happy Hour goes into effect starting today. Happy hour will be Monday through Friday from 4:30-6:30 PM with special food and beverage pricing for select menu items.
